Not Yet Privacy Terms

Privacy Policy

Last updated 18 September 2026. Applies to the Not Yet Android app and this website.

The short version. Your data never leaves your phone. Not Yet has no account, no sign-up, no analytics and no advertising. Everything it records stays in the app's own storage on your phone, and uninstalling the app deletes it.

Who this is from

Not Yet is published on Google Play by ReelCounter. You can reach us at contact@reel-counter.com.

What the app records

All of it is written to the app's private storage on your device — Android's per-app preferences file and a local database. None of it is sent anywhere.

  • The apps you chose to block. Their package names.
  • A journal of tries. Each time a blocked app is stopped, one row is written: which app, the time, the date, whether you got in, and how many minutes the pass was worth.
  • Your estimate of how long you stay in each blocked app, which is only used to work out the figure shown on the home screen.
  • A random secret generated on your device when you first open the app. It is what the four-digit code is derived from. It is never displayed and never leaves the device.
  • When a pass runs out. One time per app you have let yourself into, so the app knows when to start blocking it again.
  • Whether you have finished the introduction.

The age you give during the introduction is not among them. It is held in memory to work out the figures on that screen and is gone as soon as you leave it.

What the app does not do

  • It does not ask for or hold a name, an email address, a phone number, or an account of any kind.
  • It does not use analytics, crash reporting, advertising, or any third-party software development kit.
  • It does not read your contacts, messages, photos, files, location, camera or microphone.
  • It does not upload, back up or share any of this. Nothing you block, and no try it records, is ever sent to us or to anybody else.

The accessibility service

Not Yet uses Android's accessibility service. This is the only way an Android app can tell which app has just come to the front, and therefore the only way it can stop a blocked app as it opens.

The service receives a signal each time the foreground window changes and reads the package name of the app that is now in front — for example com.instagram.android. That is the whole of it. It does not read the contents of your screen, the text you type, your passwords, or anything inside the apps you use. Package names of blocked apps are written to the journal described above; everything else is discarded immediately.

The app shows you a plain explanation of this before it sends you to the Android settings screen, and the service does nothing until you turn it on there. You can turn it off at any time in Settings → Accessibility, which stops the blocking.

Other permissions

  • Display over other apps. Lets the block screen appear on top of the app you just opened. It is used for nothing else.
  • Seeing which apps are installed. Limited to apps that have a launcher icon, so the app can offer you a list to choose from and show the right name and icon. It is not a list of every package on your phone and it is never transmitted.

Android's own backup

Android may include this app's data in the device backup that you have configured for your own Google account. That backup is made by Android, held in your Google account, and governed by Google's terms rather than ours — we cannot see it. If you do not want it, turn off backup for this app in your device settings.

Children

Not Yet is not directed at children and collects nothing from anybody, including children.

Your rights

Data protection law gives you rights over personal data an organisation holds about you — access, correction, deletion, and others. We hold none: nothing about you reaches us, so there is nothing for us to look up, correct or delete.

What the app has written is on your phone and under your control. You can erase all of it by clearing the app's storage, or by uninstalling the app.

Changes

If a future version of the app collects or sends anything, this page will say so before that version is released, and the date at the top will change. Material changes will also be described in the release notes on Google Play.
